This hike has been done on 11th May 2019, based on the directions of Outdoor active.
On this day we woke up with all the possible motivation to challenge this unrealistic weather of May ’19 but, hey, we had to train for Norway!
We looked up at the forecast and apparently, we were supposed to have “good” weather at least till midday. So, we decided to wake up early to have as much time as possible to reach the Laberhaus.
Once parked the car at the Talstation in Oberammergau, we began our hike by following the trail across an open landscape. After a few kilometres, the trail goes through the forest, where the difficult part appeared.

In the past weeks, it was in fact very cold in Bavaria, meaning that the trail was still mostly covered with snow. We proceed then slowly till reaching the viewpoint of the Schartenkopf over the town of Ettal.

From there just a few more hundreds of metres till we reached the Laberhaus hut, just in time for the arrival of the bad weather. We found ourselves in a cloud indeed.

Satisfied with our climb and not particularly keen to walk down with this weather, we went for plan B, i.e. cake at the hut and cable car to come down. In the end, still a good hiking day!
