This hike has been done on 21st June 2019, based on the directions of Outt.
The trail starts with dirt road, till we reached a gate and the signals to go right for Bynuten. Since the forecast promised dry conditions, it started rain almost immediately. Once worn our rain jacket, we continued our walk passing aside of some beautiful lakes.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t enjoy much the panorama, being careful not to fall because of the mud and the slippery rocks. We continued slowly on the southern side of the peak in a flat rocky muddy trail, till we finally started to go up.
The ascent to the peak was surprisingly harder than expected, since the hike was advertised as medium. In reality, we had to do a bit of scrambling to go up, which was indeed a real fun.
We reached an intermediate plateaux with a lake and some nice waterfall, where we found other three hikers (it wasn’t probably a very popular hike). From there we started our final ascent to the peak, which we reached in time for a hail storm.
We got briefly cover behind some rocks and luckily the storm passed quickly. From the peak we were supposed to have a beautiful view over the underneath fjord, but unfortunately it wasn’t much visible because of the bad weather. In any case, we started to climb down from the northern side. We walked again along some nice lakes (I really can’t remember how many there are in this place), and we were even surprised with some sunshine.
We continued to follow the trail, till reaching the junction we took in the morning (with a little deviation, having lost the trail) and eventually we were back at our car, dirty and wet as pigs.
Nevertheless, we really enjoyed this hike, with all the hail, rain, mud and rocks giving us some good challenges and lot of laughs.
Hope you enjoyed the report! Stay tuned for the next posts!
